Girl planking in a leafy surrounding. The girl has a dark blue polka dot blouse, jeans and blue and red sneakers as well as triangular hanging earrings, a watch on her left arm and a bracelet on the left , all in silver. She claps her hands on the floor.
Piece is a self portrait.
It was my initial reaction to walking through the GLO'ART grounds.
I had the urge to get close to this new strange earth and surroundings.
This piece is part of a body of work in which I will integrate myself planking into constructed surroundings made up of carefully selected photographs take during this residency. My body of work will go alongside my twin sister ( Alouette Ferreira ) and form an experience.
“I explore relationships and connections in my work, the relationship to context and to others. I create work with story-telling elements, stories that don’t necessarily have neatly resolved plots but that hopefully make the viewer wonder and invite reflection. I do this by combining images into intermediate impossibilities – ideas, or in this case images, that are highly unlikely but that help you get from one concept to another (Edward De Bono). My process involves gathering images I have made myself or that I gather from different sources and combine to form new images that in some way make sense on a heuristic level. What determines how I decide on a final image is the phrase ‘I’ll know it when I see it’. Hopefully in my work there is something that challenges our normal way of seeing things, something pleasing on an aesthetic level, a story-telling element, and a sense of humanity and relationship. My main media are collage and oil on board.”
